clickable world map The World HHH Database Project is dedicated to maintaining a centralized worldwide hash information and contact database available on the internent and printed in a number of publications. The project is supported by input from hashers and hashes around the world. This database supports the Hash Roster, the only hard copy directory book published regularly. It is printed in two editions a year and has been consistently since 1994. The database also supports the hardcopy contact lists printed twice a year in the InterHASHional News (and formerly in Global Trash magazine until the two periodicals became a joint subscription). Global Trash Home Page was founded in July 1995 (later becoming the World HHH Home Page), with the Hash Roster appearing on-line first in September 1995, making it the oldest HHH directory website. The directory can also be reached on-line from numerous national, regional and local hash web sites in the form of the handy search tool you see on the Main Search Page. You can get a copy of the code for your hash related website by clicking on the link below. Previous Interhash hosts have 'borrowed' from the Hash Roster for their directories. So you see, this database is the single most important HHH directory database in the world and your contribution to the effort is appreciated by the tens of thousands of hashers who read it and access its data worldwide.

How do You Join the World HHH Database Project?

Hashes and Local Hash Webmasters:
Your hash can join simply by providing us with your contact and hash information updates on a regular basis. The directory is self-service now, so it is most important that hashes appoint at least one person responsible to see that your hash and contact data are correct in the database. It is so easy! All you have to do is look your database up in the directory, then click on the links to the hash update form or contact manager as needed. Have your webmaster demonstrate your hash's support and get a neat search tool for your hash's web site. Simply copy the code at the the page for the search tool linked above and paste it into your hash's home page. Above all, encourage your hashers to purchase directories and other publications and haberdashery from the Global Trash marketplace whose sales help support the costs of maintaining the free services of this project.

Regional/National/Continental Hash Site Webmasters and Directory Keepers:
You can join by adding the search tool linked above to any web site you have and entering any updates you receive. If you already have a directory on your site, we would be glad to offer you a facsimile page with the same look and feel on the HHHWeb.com, but accesses the world database most of the hashes and hashers update directly. We ask only that you also include forms to update the world database from your site, again that we can provide with the same look and feel of your site. We also ask that any manual or emailed updates you receive be entered into the world database as well.

What's in it for you?
We can provide you with a facsimile on-line directory in the image you now have it, completely automated from the world directory real-time updated! All you will need to do is link to it from your national or regional site domain or redirect to it from there. It will cost you nothing and save you a lot of work.

Why support the World Database Project in this manner? With everyone updating the same database for the Hash House Harriers:

  • Everyone is on the same sheet of music and everyone has the best and most up to date data available to them.
  • The data are entered and shared by everyone equally.

  • No longer do hashes have to go to several web sites to update their data or send emails to everyone who might need it. Everyone will get their data from the same central database and all hashes need to do is go to one place for an update to see it appear on several on-line and hard copy media. By supporting this project, they already reach the vast majority of hashers who seek out hash directory information around the world.

  • With at least a year's notice, a special hard copy directory book can be provided free to any world Interhash host who agrees to put the directory in the goody bag exclusively.

  • No longer will readers of the world directory miss an update because a hash was updated in some regional directory that is not part of the project, but failed to update the world directory, regional directories, hash periodicals and hard copy directories which work together in one database as part of this project.

  • By joining, you will be contributing to the success of this project and the accuracy of the world's most comprehensive hash database. Thanks to the hundreds who already support the current database, which is, at any one time and when judged on as a whole, always the best source for hash data. However, with everyone helping, it can be even better.
  • The Goals of The Worldwide HHH Database Project Are:

  • Build and maintain a world directory of hashes and hash contacts in a centralized database with multiple backups separated geographically.
  • Make all data available to everyone, free of charge, on the worldwide web and through data dumps to directory keepers and interhash events who require it for non-commercial, hash-related purposes.
  • Publish a complete hardcopy directory book at least annually (usually twice a year) and provide data for contact lists published semi-annually in Global Trash supported periodicals. Price these directories at reasonable price deemed necessary to recoop costs of the publishing and support of the Worldwide HHH Database Project and its services.
  • Provide a free hard copy directory in every goody bag for the world Interhash event so that Interhash funds and sponsorships will be spent on the event and not on the egos (and the pockets of at least one) of the hosts OR to appease the disgruntled desires of the anti-GT organization called HPA. In otherwords, Interhash should be supporting the this project much in the way they used to support Harrier International when it published a directory, instead of competing against the world database project that furnishes directory information free to hashers the other 23 months between events. Only Global Trash will publish their directory FREE if they agree to distribute it exclusively - not the HPA or any other fringe group of hashers who seem to have way too much political influence over Interhash hosts in their efforts, in the words of the HPA founder, "to kill Global Trash". If you agree it is time for Interhash Hosts to put on Interhash and leave the directory to the professionals - members World HHH Database Project and Global Trash - then write them and tell them: "Hey, why don't you take up the free directory offer from Global Trash and quit wasting time and money on a duplicated effort!"
  • Provide free mailing labels to hosts of national or higher interhash events for their region. Provide mailing labels at cost to all other local interhash weekend hosts.
  • Coordinate with regional or national directory keepers to allow exchange of updates received by all, as well as support them in their effort at providing a local/regional view of the world directory.
  • Provide a search tool that can be easily added to every hash related webpage and hash home page for easy access of their readers to the World HHH Directory.
This has been very successful as hash, national and higher sites have placed the world HHH directory search tool on their pages. Click on the link above to the HTML source code for that tool to add it to your hash's web site and offer your readers ready access to the World HHH Database.

"Hashing is a state of mind- a friendship of kindred spirits joined together for the sole purpose of reliving their childhood or fraternity days, releasing the tensions of everyday life, and generally, acting a fool amongst others who will not judge you or measure you by anything more than your sense of humor."
