Welcome back Stray Dog to the WHO Website!Note to Members: IHN and GT Magazine Websites are back! Click on Books and Magazines and you will find the links to the new and updated Global Trash Magazine and InterHASHional News websites. Looking for a different mini directory of the world's harrier groups, go to the IHN website where we show you just what your group's entry will look like in the hardcopy InterHASHional News that is mailed out three times a year. Please contact us if you find a bug. We have been and will be in construction for some time, and mistakes will be made. Please email a copy of the screen error if you get one and a description of the page, link and/or how you got to that point. Thanks and On On!
Pardon us for the improvements and construction taking place as the old gthhh.com or worldhhh.com, hhhweb.com, and worldhashspace.com becomes worldharrier.com or worldharrierorganization.com, harriergroup.com, and harriermate.com - much better locations for the information, instruction, entertainment and social networking of ALL the world's harriers and harrier groups, not just the HHH. The World Harrier Organization was born from the ashes of many hacks and attempts to destroy the former sites and decades of effort by Global Trash Magazine.
Here's the latest about the site:
• The Groups page has been completed replacing the old Hash Roster Directory.
• The Members page is now the WHO Membership Directory page and looks better than before.
• The Events page was recently completed with major events included. If you have a group invitational run or weekend where you would like to invite others, email us with the details and we will be glad to add it. It is hope to have self-service back in business soon.
• News has been quite stagnant, but it is being revived once again. If you have a short news post you would like on the WHO news feed that would be of interest to harriers around the world (no local or regional event, spam etc.), please send it by mail to the editor (see contact us page). You can also append one photo for the news item.
• The Forum is back up! Now you can entertain yourself with nostalgic posts from yesteryear, but if you have a new thread you would like to start or a post on an open thread, please send it to the editor and it will be reviewed and posted if it fits.
• Harrier Links was once called Hot Links and it is now back up once again. These are a long list of links of interest to harriers and groups, including many on running and bicycling. Many of the links may be out of date, so if you see one like that, send the update or ask that it be removed due to a bad URL. Thanks for your help!
• Harrier Mail was once called HashMail and it is now back up once again. Let everyone in you group know about it. The sooner everyone finds out it is back up, the quicker you get responses when contacting members.
• Books replaces the old Hash Bible pages, providing several books of harrier interest. Eventually there will be an indexed online version of the new World Harrier Organization Manual with a reader. This is a comprehensive reference in hounds and hares, harriers and groups that replaces the Hash Bible. We are archiving the old, last editions of the Hash House Harrier books, including providing the last edition of the Hash Bible printed. The individual books of the Hash Bible are also archived separately as they were sold separately at times. A new feature is offering any other books published by Global Publications and Software, the parent of WHO publishing, that are of interest to harriers. The first, Alabama Slim, a novel that was given away at the 20th event hosted by WHO and its predecessors in Jiangmen, China and has material related to hounds and hares and cross country running. It is written as a series, with hounds and hares or cross country running ingrained as a central theme between them. It should be completed by end of Summer.
• Joke of the Day is now back up once again. Don't keep it a secret. The sooner everyone finds out it is back up, the more humor will be added. We will try to get the search and paging between jokes back up, but right now it is simply a different joke every day from our humor database.
What's Up Next?
• Global Trash Magazine/InterHASHional News will once again be revived with hard copy issues flowing once again to harriers around the world beginning in September 2020 - our first issue was published for September 1993! Global Trash Magazine will be published hardcopy and mailed out for September, January, and May issues and InterHASHional News will be published hardcopy and mailed out for March, July, and November for a total of six issues a year the first year, but may increase in frequency at a later time if support increases. Subscription is free for all premium WHO members (email to find out how to be a premium member). Beginning also in September, we will start loading the old issues, at least those available, in the archive as pdf's. However, now GT and IHN will have a constant online presence for each. We look forward to your submissions once again about invitational event runs and weekends with pics, items of interest, as well as your participation in old favorites like Hare Doktor, song of the week, etc. that you have come to enjoy. We hope to have new features as they become available. If you wish to help out and have a little time each week beginning in August, we are looking for experienced harrier volunteers to join the WHO/GT/IHN staff and help make this the top harrier web presence once again.
• The two Harrier Social Networking Sites will be revived as HarrierMates.com which will be replacing HHH Web/WorldHashSpace.com (member's websites/social networking) and HarrierGroups.com replacing Visual On Sec (group websites, management software and database support for groups). These will take at least until the end of the 2020 to be fully functional, but I hope to have important functions operational by end of Summer or early Fall. If you had a website, photo albums, etc. under HHH Web, World Hash Space or Visual On Sec, they will be restored from the attacks if at all possible. If you were a premium member before, your membership will be reinstated for the amount of time you had left before the site went down. It took many years to clean up the database after the attack and, I add apologetically, for a time I just gave up and was too busy. New technology, greatly improved security, better servers, firewalls and programming techniques helped to bring it all back and will help prevent such attacks in the future. We hope that the groups have weeded out such horrible people who would use their security skills to attack hard working harrier publishers and let us get on with serving harriers and the cause of hares and hounds.
• We want to make a better hounds and hares world. The World Harrier Organization was founded to make the hounds and hares world a friendlier place again like it used to be, where it is all about fun, not the politics, power grabs, graft in host selections, kickbacks from event vendors, frat hazing, hacking and bullying that has crept into the sport. We plead for friendly invitational events priced for the average harrier, not $300-400 plus events catering only to the well-heeled and designed to fill the coffers of host mismanagement and membership. WHO and its predecessor has put on 20 well-done and well-priced events, so other hosts can as well. We hope you agree with our direction and support us in our effort.
I envision a harrier world where we are all brothers and sisters practicing hares and hounds, enjoying the thrill of the trail and friendliness of the social and welcoming others into the sport with open arms. That's the way it was when I started and the way it was 60-80 years ago according to harriers I have interviewed. With your help, it can be that way once again.
Cheers and On On!
