What's in a URL?
Birmingham, Alabama, 30 June 2020 - The official URL for our site is the shorter: https://www.worldharrier.com or the longer: https://www.worldharrierorganization.com. Many of you come in from search engines that use gthhh.com that has been around since long before Google from 1995. We have had URL's such as worldhhh.com which do not exist any longer. It is recommended you put https://www.worldharrier.com in your favorites in the future for ease of use and longevity. Eventually some of the older URL's will die. Then tell everyone in your group to check it out and do the same... it really has gotten a lot better this year. If you haven't updated your member and group information in a while, please do so, in order for the rest of the harrier world to find you, your group and your event.
Interhash Trinidad Postponed
Port of Prince, Trinidad and Tobago, 15 May 2020 - Over the last two years, our team, has worked tirelessly in preparation to host the Interhash in Trinidad and Tobago but Global events, in particular, the spread of the Covid-19 virus, frustrated our efforts to fulfill our mandate to host the event for the period 23rd- 26th 2020.
A difficult decision had to be made after consideration of the factors which undoubtedly created a total lack of access to Trinidad and Tobago and the services necessary to hold the event, but most importantly, consideration was given to the health and welfare of both the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago and the international participants, which had to come first.
It has become clear that it would not be feasible for us to host the Interhash in Trinidad and Tobago until 2022, .and following consultation with the Interhash Council, the Interhash Trinidad and Tobago has been postponed and would be hosted in Trinidad and Tobago on the dates listed below:
Red Dress Run - April 28th 2022
Interhash Trinidad - April 29th - May 1st, 2022.
Tobago Pre Lube - April 23rd - 25th, 2022.

Happy 70th Birthday Stray Dog!
Birmingham, Alabama, USA, 3 April 2020 - Stray Dog, editor of Global Trash Magazine and InterHASHional News and GM of the World Harrier Organization reached 70 years old today. It seems like yesterday when GT articles and forums were commenting on how the original members of the Hash House Harriers in Kuala Lumpur were all septuagenarians and octogenarians and now the Stray Dog generation has reach that point, many of whom can no longer run. Stray Dog began hounds and hares in 1982 in Okinawa at the age of 32, wondering why he didn't find it sooner. He then founded the short-lived Namsan Hash House Harriers group in 1984 in Seoul, Korea. His Huachuca Hash House Harriers (Arizona), as well as the Birmingham Hash House Harriers and Birmingham Magic City Harriers groups (both in Alabama) are still going after all these years. Over the years he founded over a dozen harrier groups. He published Global Trash Magazine and directory in 1993, put it online in July 1995, which has become the World Harrier Organization website you see today. After a serious leg injury that put him out of running and into years of rehab, he can now jog again and has decided to revamp the WHO website and devote more time to harrier endeavors in the future.
Stray Dog lives with his Chinese wife of ten years, Little Pig, in Birmingham, Alabama. He insisted they take the ferry to Macau to run with the group there and see how she liked hounds and hares, before he would propose marriage. Stray Dog came back to China a year later and married her and stayed with her for a year, hosting a world event there in 2011. They still hit a rugged trail together regularly every week as they live at the edge of Ruffner Mountain Nature Preserve. COVID 19 put a damper on reviving their local group, but they plan to get the Birmingham Magic City Harriers back and running as soon as possible.
Stray Dog spent twenty years in the Army, has lived in six countries on three continents and Latin America. He hosted EuroHash III, founded the USA Nash Hash and his work in and after the service as a programmer analyst and project manager helped improve harrier website presence over the years. He has earned an AA, BA, three Master's degrees, is awaiting dissertation approval for a Doctor of Ministry and is studying for a PhD in Leadership with a concentration in education. He recently founded an online international institution of higher learning. He now devotes most of his time to that endeavor, teaching mostly students from several countries in Africa. Not bad for 70 years!
World Harrier Organization Gathering Postponed
Birmingham, Alabama, USA, 1 April 2020 - Due to COVID 19 virus, the date for the long overdue gathering and banquet weekend is now May 29-30, 2021. Everyone who is registered for any previous WHO event which got postponed are automatically registered for this event, however you need to RSVP by email to WHO that you are coming and get verification that you have paid (so we can get you reregistered in the database).
WHO is asking for harriers around the world to gather once again for great trail, great food and a friendly, fun gathering of the world pack just like we did in Orlando, Florida in 2012 and Jiangmen, China in 2011 and eighteen others before that. There will be a torchlight run on Friday evening, a very challenging segmented trail on Saturday in several lengths for all abilities, followed by the annual WHO banquet Saturday evening. There will be a Sunday morning trail and brunch served. If you have not attended one of the last twenty gatherings put on by us under previous titles of Global Trash Hash, World Interhash and Global Interhash, you have missed a treat.
Stray Dog and Little Pig have not hosted an event for a long while and it is not known if it will be repeated soon, so this is a rare experience you do not want to miss. Those who paid for previous events and did not go, or they were cancelled, can attend free. This will be the 21st world event sponsored by us and it is a bargain for only a $99.95 fee! With $300-$400 plus registration fees nowadays, don't you want to turn back the clock and still get the same quality (or probably better) event, food, drink, service and trails? You can RSVP by sending your name, harrier name (hashname), home group to gm[at]WorldHarrierOrganization.com. You will receive full details on the event, lodging, payment details, etc. If you already paid for the next event, let us know when you RSVP and you will be full registered.
Important Note: Those very few who prepaid for the Frankfurt and Okinawa bids which fell through due to lack of local support and registrations may attend this one free, but this is the last time this will be offered. After this one, they will expire. We are sorry we were unable to refund on those preregistrations, but that money was expended in the promotion of the events for those overseas locations and we are now offering a U.S. alternative. This one is local and will be a GO! When you consider we have held our annual event in many cities literally around the globe twenty times, a couple of failures due to lack of participation and postponement due host injuries and pandemic, our record is not so bad - at least we are still alive!
Harriers Inspire Physics Research
Ames, Iowa, USA, 12 Jul 2015 - Received this email from a fellow harrier who wanted to pass on his appreciation to our sport for inspiring his research. Stray Dog
Dear Harriers,
I recently wrote an essay about the discovery of new materials that used the HHH as it inspiration.
I thought this might entertain you.
